UFC Vancouver's Aiemann Zahabi Buoyed by Canadian Crowds
""It's been great, actually. At first, I didn't have that much of a fan base, so I didn't really mind fighting in the Apex," Zahabi said. "But now that my fan base has been growing, and if you hear the reaction I got in Montreal, it's incredible. The reaction I had with Pedro Munoz when they were chanting 'Zahabi' - it's an incredible feeling.""
""I'm lucky that we're getting these fights in Canada, because it's really helping me build my presence," he said. "I want to, when I retire one day, I want to be one of the faces of Canadian MMA. I want to be like George [St. Pierre], I want to be like Rory [MacDonald], I want to be like Pat Coté. When they think of Canadian MMA, I want my name is up there with these guys.""
Aiemann Zahabi has fought four of his last five bouts in Canada, enjoying strong home crowds. His growing Canadian fan base produced loud chants for him in Montreal and during the Pedro Munoz fight. Fighting at home has boosted his presence and helped him build a national following. Zahabi aims to become one of the faces of Canadian MMA alongside George St. Pierre, Rory MacDonald, and Pat Coté. The next opportunity to enhance that legacy comes against Marlon 'Chito' Vera in Vancouver. Zahabi is confident in his striking after standing with elite opponents and competing closely with Marlon Vera.
