12 New Songs Out Today
"I think at the end of the day I pretty much make singer-songwriter music. It's usually just simple chord progressions and vocal melodies, but I like the idea of taking those fundamentals and finding ways to bend the presentation. I feel like the more I try to change things up, the more I sort of discover the true constants of my own songwriting, the things that make it sound like me whether it's in the context of big distorted guitars or samples."
A weekly music roundup features newly released songs from diverse artists and genres. La Roux returns with "Cabin Fever," the first single from her upcoming album Old Flames on Casablanca Records. Hey, Nothing released "Boat Garage," described as a manifestation of nervousness. JPEGMAFIA shared a second single from his album Experimental Rap. Dazy released a two-song single ahead of supporting Sleaford Mods, with frontman James Goodson discussing his approach to blending simple songwriting fundamentals with experimental production. Father John Misty released "The Payoff," featuring harpsichord and Morricone-influenced arrangements. New Idea Society, featuring Stephen Brodsky and Mike Law, previewed their upcoming album Fire on the Hill.
