Brooklyn's Late Cambrian to host music video launch party for new single Into The Lilac Tree' | amNewYork
"I like the idea of a kind of supernatural creature becoming obsessed with a human and then trying to coax them into an eternal relationship with them. It kind of says things about relationships in general and how weird and unbalanced they can be, and then how that can also be seen as romantic."
"I had mentioned to him that I was inspired by Nosferatu' and by movies in general, and he just somehow took that and ran with it and turned it into a weird kind of modern Wizard of Oz' theme."
Late Cambrian released the single Into The Lilac Tree on Oct. 19 and celebrated its launch with a music-video party. The song draws inspiration from Robert Eggers' 2024 film Nosferatu and frames a supernatural creature's obsessive desire to coax a human into an eternal relationship as a metaphor for the odd, unbalanced aspects of romantic relationships. The music video, directed by King Z, transforms those inspirations into a modern Wizard of Oz–style narrative following a Dorothy-esque character fleeing a witch. The visuals blend horror and gothic undertones with a bright, saturated color palette and feature the band alongside a cast of actors.
