"Before Yes, Trevor Horn had fronted the Buggles, responsible for the first video ever played on MTV. After getting kicked out of Yes and realizing he was more cut out for producing than performing, he refashioned a duo called Dollar from bland second-class pop strivers into boundary-"
Yes faced near collapse in 1979 when Jon Anderson left over the band’s shift toward streamlined hard rock and reduced interest in elaborate theatrical material. Trevor number one was brought in to replace him for an album and tour, but the fit failed. Trevor number two, Trevor Rabin, joined as a guitarist and keyboardist and contributed much of the songwriting in the reshuffled lineup. Anderson returned before Rabin could record, but the new direction remained. Trevor Horn, previously fronting the Buggles and later becoming a top UK pop producer, refashioned his earlier work and moved toward producing rather than performing, helping drive the band’s revitalization.
