A U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Texas issued a criminal grand jury subpoena to NYU Langone Hospitals, a New York health care institution, concerning gender-affirming care for transgender youth. The notification was sent to patients and/or parents through an online portal shortly after 7 p.m. on May 11, 2026. The subpoena requested information about patients under age 18 who received gender-affirming care at NYU Langone between 2020 and 2026. It also sought the names of providers and other individuals involved in delivering that care during the same period. The notice cited New York State Shield Law requirements for entities to attempt to notify affected individuals at least 30 days before complying with such requests.
