Exclusive: Luisa Sonza Responds To Zara Larsson Collab Rumors
"“Representing Brazil, being there this year... it's such a big moment,” she tells Bustle over Zoom of her festival debut in April. “I couldn't imagine it would be so soon.”"
"“It was important to me, because I [learned to] understand the music and the show and the stage and the work of being an artist, a musician, before I was famous, or whatever,” Sonza says. “Like, I learned how to deal with a crowd who doesn't know me or care about me.”"
"“Maybe! We're talking. She's an incredible artist, and I love her. She's such a nice girl.”"
"“Brutal Paraíso” which dropped in April. As the name (“Brutal Paradise” in English) suggests, it's an album rooted in juxtapositions, tackling themes of mental health, sexuality, and what Sonza calls the “mess” of life across 23 vibe-hopping tracks."
Luísa Sonza made her Coachella debut in April, representing Brazil and describing it as a major, unexpected milestone. She began performing at age seven in a wedding band, continuing through her teenage years, and credits that experience with shaping her eclectic style through church singing and party performances. She learned to understand music, stage work, and the responsibilities of being an artist before becoming famous, including how to handle crowds that do not yet know her. Her career has since expanded through sold-out touring and collaborations with prominent artists. Her fourth studio album, Brutal Paraíso, released in April, blends contrasting themes and explores mental health, sexuality, and life’s “mess” across 23 tracks.
