Jack Schlossberg proposes making Child Tax Credit monthly
"“Every year, moms and dads await their $2,000 check. Let’s make it monthly. That’s the way that families budget month to month. It’s much easier to budget if you’re getting your payment broken up in 12 monthly payments. And we’re going to expand it. That’s why I’m calling it the mom’s monthly bonus.”"
"“It’s a plan to turn the yearly childhood taxpayer credit into a monthly payment, and I want to increase this payment.”"
"“His plan would be financed by the $1 billion Republicans are seeking to bankroll White House State Ballroom.”"
"“Trump wants a billion for the ballroom. I want a billion dollars for moms and working families,” Schlossberg charged."
Jack Schlossberg, a New York Democratic congressional candidate, proposed making the IRS Child Tax Credit a monthly benefit called the Monthly Moms Bonus. The plan would convert the yearly $2,000 check into 12 monthly payments to help families budget month to month. Schlossberg also said the payment should be expanded. He proposed financing the monthly credit by redirecting funds Republicans seek for a White House State Ballroom. He criticized the ballroom funding and argued that mothers and working families deserve the money instead. The proposal was announced on Mother’s Day alongside Caroline Kennedy at St. Catherine’s Park.
