Khris Middleton's path off the Wizards has already become painfully obvious

Khris Middleton joined the Washington Wizards seeking to aid the team's young core and prove ongoing value after exercising a lucrative player option. Middleton shined in his prime with the Milwaukee Bucks through scoring, playmaking and defensive versatility, but current performance has declined. He has struggled with availability in recent years. In seven games this season he averaged 10.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 49.1% overall and 38.9% from three. His $33.2 million salary makes the contract effectively untradeable, leaving a buyout as the most realistic roster solution.
