Mills rallies Texans from 19-point deficit in 4th
""The whole team had faith we were going to win that game the entire time," Mills said. "I think our team is very confident in our own abilities. We have a lot of players who can make plays. And we just needed to get things clicking.""
"With starting quarterback C.J. Stroud sidelined with a concussion, Houston overcame a 19-point deficit in the second half to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars, 36-29. Mills had three fourth quarter touchdowns, capped by a 14-yard scoring run with 31 seconds left."
Backup quarterback Davis Mills made his first start since Jan. 8, 2023, and led Houston to a 36-29 victory after C.J. Stroud was sidelined with a concussion. Mills threw an interception on the opening drive but then passed for 292 yards after that possession and produced three fourth-quarter touchdowns, including a 14-yard scoring run with 31 seconds remaining. The Texans overcame a 19-point second-half deficit, a comeback tied for the largest this season and the second-largest in team history. Early miscues for Jacksonville — including a Tremon Smith kickoff fumble and a 73-yard punt-return touchdown by Parker Washington — helped build the early lead that Houston erased.
