'Nick was with us': Mangold speech inspires Jets
"Nick and AG are part of this fraternity [of] being a Jet. They came here and they brought wins. They were great players here and Nick was with us today. We had a kick return and a punt return [for touchdowns]. Kind of crazy. That's nobody but God and the man himself, Nick himself."
"Yeah, man, it meant a lot,"
The Jets held a tribute to former center Nick Mangold, who died Oct. 25 at 41 from complications of kidney disease. Mangold's widow and four children served as honorary captains, all wearing No. 74 jerseys, and the stadium displayed large No. 74 flags, banners and a photo tribute. Coach Aaron Glenn delivered an emotional address to the team. New York beat the Cleveland Browns 27-20, highlighted by a 99-yard kickoff return by Kene Nwangwu and a 74-yard punt return by Isaiah Williams. Players said they were moved by the tribute and the game felt fitting for Mangold.
