Patrick Mahomes injured his left knee while scrambling and attempting to get rid of the ball late in a 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Chargers defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand spun Mahomes to the ground, after which Mahomes grabbed his left knee and was helped to the sidelines and into the injury tent before limping to the locker room. An MRI was scheduled for later. Gardner Minshew replaced Mahomes, completed three passes but threw a game-sealing interception to Derwin James. The loss, combined with other teams' wins, eliminated Kansas City from playoff contention.
