"YESSSSSS,"
"Again bobble."
"I get it, you like bobble."
Alex Ovechkin scored his 899th career goal on a shot off an offensive-zone faceoff win by Dylan Strome, giving the Washington Capitals a 2-0 lead. The goal came against Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Jet Greaves and ultimately served as the game-winner in a 5-1 Capitals victory. Ovechkin appeared to catch the puck standing on its side before rifling it into the net. The goal was his second against Greaves and the 184th different goaltender he has beaten. Ovechkin needs one more goal to reach 900, with the next opportunity in his 1,500th career game at home against Ottawa. After a lower-body training camp injury, Ovechkin has two goals in his first eight games of the 2025-26 season, matching the worst eight-game start of his career.
