""It hurt real bad after I got hit," Protas said postgame. "Right away.""
""After I came to the room and had that intermission, it helped me a lot to kind of rest and get back full recovery," he said. "The trainers helped during the intermission, and I put some ice and I felt great afterwards though.""
""I'm going to give this one to Pro," Stevenson said to roars from the team. "Absolute warrior.""
Ilya Protas of the Hershey Bears took a cheap shot from Lehigh Valley Phantoms forward Garrett Wilson late in the first period and was sent to the ice, struggling to get up. He reported immediate pain but returned to the Bears bench and remained in the game after doing some twirls on the ice during the stoppage. Trainers treated him during intermission with rest and ice, which helped his recovery. Protas scored the game-winning shootout goal with a teased forehand and a backhand on Phantoms goalie Carson Bjarnason. He earned First Star and received the player-of-the-game firefighter outfit from goalie Clay Stevenson.
