William Nylander's status to be determined for Saturday's game vs. Sabres
""Maybe. Yeah, we'll see," Berube said Friday when asked if Nylander could miss Saturday's game. "Got to see him. I got to see him (Saturday).""
""They looked really good," Berube said of the Matthews-Nylander pairing. "They were quick. They supported each other really well and were strong on pucks. There was a lot of offensive-zone time. A lot of good things from that line.""
William Nylander was hit by Sabres forward Jason Zucker, returned to the dressing room and did not play the final 5:31 of a 5-3 loss. Multiple injuries are affecting the Maple Leafs: Chris Tanev was placed on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 21 with an upper-body injury; Morgan Rielly missed the game and has an undetermined status for Saturday; Scott Laughton is still recovering from a lower-body injury; Joseph Woll rejoined the team after a personal leave. Nylander ranks second in NHL scoring with three goals and 11 assists, was moved to the top line with Bobby McMann and Auston Matthews and scored on a first-period breakaway. Any absence by Nylander would be a severe blow to an offense struggling through a 3-4-1 start entering the second game of a back-to-back.
