Fire marshals are investigating the cause and origin of a ferocious five-alarm fire at 1470 East Tremont Ave. in Parkchester that began just after 11 a.m. on Nov. 8. FDNY found heavy flames pushing workers from a nearby autobody shop and called multiple alarms as fire vented through the one-story building’s roof and a wall collapsed. Four firefighters sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Some 220 firefighters used seven hose lines and five tower ladders to knock down the main body of the fire, which was placed under control at 2:10 p.m. The incident coincided with a separate fatal medical episode suffered by a Brooklyn firefighter that same day.
