According to police, the 12-year-old had just returned to her building near Morgan and Skillman avenues, part of NYCHA's Cooper Park Houses, around 5:45 p.m. Thursday when a man approached, grabbed her, and raped her."
"Using surveillance footage from the area, detectives with the NYPD's Special Victims Unit released an image of the suspect, asking the public for help identifying him. In the photo, he is seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, black sweatpants and a dark-colored backpack. Neighbors told police they didn't recognize the man, but just after 3:30 p.m. Friday, the NYPD arrested 27-year-old Eric McMichael in connection with the assault, charging him with multiple counts of rape, sexual abuse, burglary and child endangerment."
A 12-year-old girl was attacked and raped as she returned to her Brooklyn NYCHA Cooper Park Houses building near Morgan and Skillman avenues at about 5:45 p.m. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition. Detectives from the NYPD's Special Victims Unit used surveillance footage to release an image of the suspect, who was shown wearing a gray sweatshirt, black sweatpants and a dark-colored backpack. Neighbors did not recognize him. Officers arrested 27-year-old Eric McMichael, who had been living in a men's shelter, and charged him with multiple counts; he is being held without bail.
