Paul smelled thick, dark smoke and arrived at Ground Zero three days after September 11, 2001 as a first responder with a camera. A longtime Theatrical Teamster with production experience, Paul found the scene raw and unvarnished rather than staged. He filmed five hours and shot over 300 photos of first responders, ash-covered survivors searching for loved ones, and the silent void where the towers had stood. He did not record for profit or fame and kept the material private for more than two decades. He now plans a release timed with the 25th anniversary to honor victims and resilience.
