NY Islanders defenseman Marshall Warren reacts to emotional multi-point debut
""It was pretty emotional," Warren said postgame. "A lot of hard work. Would have loved to get the win, but it was a really cool experience and one I'll remember for a lifetime.""
""That's what it's all about - friends and family," he said. "It takes a village to get here.""
""You're just playing hockey... you've been doing it for 20 years," Warren said. "Everything slowed down a little bit.""
Marshall Warren, 24, recorded two assists in his NHL debut during a 4-3 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. His first assist set up Anthony Duclair’s second-period goal with a sliding pass through the slot; his second came when Maxim Tsyplakov redirected a point shot in the third to briefly give New York a 3-2 lead. The Islanders led three times and extended their run to five straight games with at least one point despite the shootout defeat. Trevor Zegras scored twice in regulation and again in the shootout. Warren had family in attendance and intends to give the puck from his first point to his mother. He became the fourth defenseman since 2010-11 to record a point in an NHL debut.
