Mets Outright Eric Wagaman
"But between those two clubs, he slashed .250/.293/.381 for a wRC+ of 85. His strikeout rate was still good but he wasn't drawing walks as much as he did on the farm. He also hit just 11 home runs in 588 plate appearances. Wagaman scuffled in Triple-A to start this year, hitting .159/.284/.254 in 18 games. That led to him being designated for assignment again, this time claimed by the Mets."
Eric Wagaman was sent outright to Triple-A Syracuse after clearing waivers following a designation for assignment. The 28-year-old infielder/outfielder has not appeared in a big league game for the Mets. He was claimed off waivers in late April and optioned to Syracuse, with a brief recall followed by another option without playing. Because he has less than three years of service time, he cannot elect free agency, allowing the Mets to retain him without using a roster spot. His minor-league production from 2022 to 2024 included a 9.5% walk rate, a 16.9% strikeout rate, 35 home runs, and a 131 wRC+. He struggled in the majors in 2024-2025 and began 2026 in Triple-A with a .159/.284/.254 line before being designated again and claimed by the Mets.
