Over half of working moms have missed work due to lack of sleep
"Over the past year more than half of working moms (53%) have either called in sick, left work early, or underperformed at their job, due to lack of sleep. And it's not just a one-off incident for most of them: 36% said it's happened repeatedly."
"Seven in ten moms cited anxiety, racing thoughts, or thinking about their daily responsibilities as a top reason for their exhaustion. Worryingly, even more (73%) say they don't feel that their lack of sleep is seen which, in turn, means there's no real support to help them actually relax, rest, and reset."
"Moms are operating in a state of sustained depletion that affects every part of their lives."
A Bedtime Report from Better Sleep surveyed 1,000 U.S. mothers and found that 53% of working moms have either called in sick, left work early, or underperformed due to insufficient sleep, with 36% experiencing this repeatedly. Only 23% of mothers get the recommended seven hours of sleep on average weeknights. Sleep deprivation stems primarily from stress and anxiety rather than childcare demands, with 70% citing racing thoughts and daily responsibilities as top reasons for exhaustion. Additionally, 73% of mothers feel their sleep deprivation goes unrecognized, resulting in lack of support for rest and recovery. This sustained sleep deprivation affects multiple aspects of their lives and work performance.
