Tutoring a baby to make them an 'English gentleman' - Is it worth the money?
"A family based in north London seeks an extraordinary and experienced tutor to support their youngest child on his first steps to becoming an English gentleman."
"someone very special"
"didn't want to wait any longer"
"cultural bias had already set in"
A north London family has placed an advert seeking an extraordinary, experienced tutor for their one-year-old, offering £180,000 a year. The family wants a British tutor who speaks Received Pronunciation to shape the child's speech, manners and cultural habits from infancy. The family previously waited until their older child was five and observed that cultural traits and subtle non-verbal cues had already become ingrained. Tutors International's CEO described the plan as far-sighted and progressive. The family intends early, osmotic learning to instil British traits and prevent earlier cultural patterns repeating. Hundreds of applicants have applied and the advert has attracted media attention.
