Keurigs, Doggy Parton, and KPop Demon Hunters Led the Biggest Halloween Dog Parade in NYC
"Forget about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Everyone knows the most entertaining parade in New York City is the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade! What's better than giant floats? Dogs in little wagons and strollers who look like floats! The 35th annual Halloween Dog Parade held on the East Side did not disappoint. Some of the most creative and clever costumes for our canine friends are seen at this event, and this year was no exception."
"Standout costumes included a dog dressed as a Keurig, a "Doggy Parton" costume, pups dressed as the singers from Guns N' Roses, complete with long wigs and sunglasses, a dog dressed as a Peloton bike, dogs and humans dressed as characters from the Peanuts gang, Jinu from KPop Demon Hunters, and famous NYC pooch, Yorkiepoo Puccini, wearing Nutcracker costumes with former Radio City Rockette Leslie Riddle."
"The winner of the costume contest was a trio of dogs named Charlie, Emily, and Zoey dressed as a "cereal killer" crime scene. They won a year's worth of dog food! Not too shabby! My personal favorite may have been the pup dressed as the straw part of a witch's broom. So simple, yet so clever! In other words, the parade was iconic. There is a reason it has been dubbed "the Met Gala of the canine community.""
The 35th annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade on the East Side featured imaginative and elaborate canine costumes and attracted large crowds. Costumes ranged from a dog dressed as a Keurig and a 'Doggy Parton' to pups styled as Guns N' Roses singers, a Peloton bike, Peanuts characters, Jinu from KPop Demon Hunters, and Yorkiepoo Puccini in Nutcracker costume with Leslie Riddle. A simple straw-as-witch-broom costume drew particular praise for cleverness. The costume contest winner was a 'cereal killer' trio named Charlie, Emily, and Zoey, awarded a year's supply of dog food. Founder Fern Watt described the parade as a joyful community celebration of human-dog companionship.
