Google is discontinuing the Dark Web report tool, stopping new dark web breach scans on January 15, 2026, and retiring the feature on February 16, 2026. Google will delete all data related to the Dark Web report after the feature is retired and offers users the option to delete their monitoring profiles ahead of time via the Dark Web report settings. The tool launched in March 2023 to scan the darknet for personal data such as name, address, email, phone number, and Social Security number and notify users when data was found. Access was expanded to all account holders in July 2024. Google urges users to enable passkeys for phishing-resistant MFA and to remove personal information via Results about you.
