The MLS/CLAW updates IDX policy, adds Compass listings
"The policy changes are designed to preserve a fair marketplace for listings and shield members from third-party platforms that could limit listing visibility or harm client outcomes, according to Annie Ives, CEO of The MLS/CLAW."
"MX listings are available only to MLS members and can remain in that status for the entire life of the listing. While a property is in MX, days on market and price history are not recorded, although both appear once the listing is sold."
"Opening MX to Compass's premarketed listings and refining IDX rules gives listing brokers more control over where and how listings appear while still keeping inventory within the MLS ecosystem."
The MLS/CLAW announced policy updates to its Internet Data Exchange system that integrate Compass International Holdings' complete active listing inventory. The changes aim to maintain marketplace fairness and prevent third-party platforms from limiting listing visibility or harming client outcomes. The MLS Exclusive (MX) status remains available, allowing listings to stay exclusive to MLS members with days on market and price history hidden until sale. Compass professionals and all MLS/CLAW members can now manually enter premarketed listings as MX status. These revisions give listing brokers greater control over listing placement and display while keeping inventory within the MLS ecosystem, addressing post-commission settlement concerns and off-MLS marketing scrutiny.
