"Gala season came to a smashing end, at least for us, with the SF Gay Men's Chorus' Crescendo last Saturday night. The Westin St. Francis Ballroom was packed with choral supporters, dressed to the nines and ready to offer generous donations. We invited good friend Eddy Skees to join us and he was the perfect guest. This gala always pleases with music from members of the chorus sprinkled throughout and heartfelt stories of the power of music."
Dykes on Bikes, based in San Francisco, marked its 50th anniversary with a party and fundraiser at Rikki’s on Market Street on April 24, 2026. The event was co-sponsored by the San Francisco Bay Times and featured emceeing by DJ Christie James. President Kate Brown auctioned items including an autographed SF Giants baseball and a Valkyries souvenir basketball, with the highest proceeds coming from a chance to ride in the June SF Pride Parade. Elected officials attended, and Brooke Oliver, the attorney associated with the Dykes on Bikes case to the Supreme Court, spoke. Members of the Board of the Rainbow Honor Walk presented Rikki’s owners with a reproduction of the bronze plaque. The gala season later ended with the SF Gay Men’s Chorus Crescendo at the Westin St. Francis Ballroom, featuring music, stories, and donations.
