"At 6:20 a.m. today, deputies fired gas into the house and got Gaytan to leave, when he was arrested and taken to jail. Gaytan was booked on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, shooting at a home, child endangerment and violating a protective order."
Deputies responded to a call at the 500 block of Warrington Ave. in North Fair Oaks at 10:30 p.m. A man later identified as Jose G. Gaytan, 34, fired shots into the air and retreated into his home with relatives, including an infant and a 92-year-old grandmother. A woman reported that Gaytan was in a mental health crisis and was armed with a handgun. Deputies negotiated with him through the night while working to evacuate family members. Gaytan refused to leave and threatened to shoot deputies. At 6:20 a.m., deputies fired gas into the house, leading to his exit, arrest, and transport to jail. He was booked on charges including felon in possession of a firearm, shooting at a home, child endangerment, and violating a protective order.
