Federal agent operations canceled in the Bay Area amid ongoing protests, Oakland Mayor Lee says
"I spoke with Alameda County Sheriff Yesenia Sanchez, who confirmed through her communications with ICE that Border Patrol operations are cancelled for the greater Bay Area - which includes Oakland - at this time."
"calling off any plans for a federal deployment"
Federal Border Patrol operations have been canceled across the greater Bay Area, including Oakland, confirmed through Alameda County communications with ICE. San Francisco received a call from President Donald Trump stating he was "calling off any plans for a federal deployment" in the city, with earlier uncertainty about whether that applied to the wider Bay Area. Protests continued after shots were fired at the entrance to the Alameda Coast Guard base when a U-Haul attempted to reverse into the gate. Two people were injured in the Thursday night incident. The FBI is investigating the shooting.
