Isabella 'Beya' Alcaraz, a 29-year-old lifelong Sunset resident, was sworn in as San Francisco District 4 supervisor on her birthday. She has no prior city government or campaign experience and previously owned a pet shop and taught art and music. The appointment follows the recall of prior supervisor Joel Engardio over his support for closing the Great Highway. Mayor Daniel Lurie praised her roots and sought accountable leadership.
