From zero to hero - but can Osmand kick on at Celtic?
"Image source, SNS Callum Osmand's all-action goalscoring display off the bench in Celtic's Scottish League Cup semi-final success over Rangers prompted a similar thought in the minds of many."
""Where has Osmand been?" asked former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew. "Why has he not been an option until now?" wondered ex-Scotland forward James McFadden."
""There are no words, it's one of those moments that don't happen," the teenage forward told Premier Sports. "It's an amazing feeling, there's nothing better. "This is going to be the craziest day of my life, there is nothing that can really top this - unless its scoring against them in the final - but it's the best day of my life.""
Callum Osmand scored after coming off the bench as Celtic beat 10-man Rangers in extra time in the Scottish League Cup semi-final. The 19-year-old could have added more goals and replaced fellow scorer Johnny Kenny in the matchday rotation. Osmand arrived from Fulham's academy on a free transfer and had been a prolific forward in Fulham's youth setup. Brendan Rodgers noted his potential but did not play him, while interim manager Martin O'Neill gave him a debut and further substitute minutes. Osmand credited O'Neill for giving him confidence and trust.
