"MLS Cup winners Inter Miami have signed former Real Madrid and Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon following the retirement of Jordi Alba. Both Alba and his former Barcelona team-mate Sergio Busquets called time on their glittering careers following Miami's 3-1 MLS Cup final win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Herons have now moved to replace the legendary left-back with another Spain international, with Reguilon joining as a free agent. Reguilon - who also spent half-season loan spells with Manchester United and Brentford - had been without a club since leaving Tottenham at the end of last season."
"Miami, who tied Lionel Messi down to a three-year contract extension in October, also have an option to extend Reguilon's stay by a further 12 months. "It's a very ambitious project, a winning club that is doing things the right way, and that's what attracted me: coming here to keep winning and competing," Reguilon told Miami's website. "My objective is to keep winning, go after the trophies we're missing, and win everything here.""
Inter Miami have signed Sergio Reguilón as a free agent to replace the retired Jordi Alba. Reguilón previously played for Real Madrid and Tottenham and had loan spells at Manchester United and Brentford. He had been without a club since leaving Tottenham and has agreed an initial two-year contract covering 2026 and 2027, with a club option for a further 12 months. Miami also extended Lionel Messi’s contract for three years in October. Reguilón stated his objective is to keep winning and pursue the trophies Miami have not yet secured. Miami will open the 2026 MLS season against Los Angeles FC on February 21, facing Orlando City next.
