"What happened: In the 38th minute, Liverpool captain Van Dijk scored with a header from a Mohamed Salah corner, however teammate Andrew Robertson was deemed to be in offside position and impacting the view of City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The goal was therefore disallowed by assistant referee Stuart Burt. Virgil Van Dijk's potential equalizer is DISALLOWED. Andrew Robertson was deemed to have interfered with the goalkeeper from an offside position."
In the 38th minute, Virgil van Dijk headed what would have been an equalizer from a Mohamed Salah corner but the goal was disallowed. Andrew Robertson was in an offside position and was adjudged to be impacting goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma's ability to make the save. Assistant referee Stuart Burt signalled the offside on-field, which served as the starting point for the VAR review. VAR Michael Oliver confirmed the on-field decision, needing to establish that Robertson's position or action constituted interference with the goalkeeper rather than mere presence in an offside position.
