Mike Tyson wants rematch with Jake Paul, talks status of Mayweather fight
"On Friday, Tyson admitted he wasn't at his best and blamed his poor health at the time for his lackluster performance. I was really ill, he told Hard Rock BET. I didn't want to use that for an excuse, but I had some real bad health problems, but I'm fine now. I have no excuses. I feel good right now. This is the best I've felt. I can't wait to start getting in the ring."
"Tyson went on to say that he trained too hard leading up to the match and left most of [his] fight in the gym. I worked too hard. I was too intense; I was too extreme. I need to relax more, he explained, saying he learned a lot from the fight and knows how to train going forward. Maybe we can have a rematch, he said. Yes I would be interested in that."
Mike Tyson wants a rematch with Jake Paul after losing by unanimous decision in an eight-round bout last November. Tyson acknowledged he performed poorly, attributing the lackluster showing to serious illness and overly intense training that left much of his fight in the gym. He stated he feels healthy now and eager to return to the ring. Tyson said he learned from the experience and plans to adjust his training by relaxing more. Tyson must first face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a planned exhibition fight in spring before any potential rematch with Paul.
