Arizona would need to create financial space for Bregman, which could require a lateral move or trading salary. Trading Ketel Marte, the Diamondbacks' most expensive non-pitcher, is a plausible payroll-clearing option. Removing Bregman from the AL East would reduce a strong division opponent for the Toronto Blue Jays. Bregman is a Gold Glove winner, a consistent 20+ home run threat with a high OPS, and has strong numbers against Toronto.
