These U.S. Airlines Have the Most Delayed Flights in 2025
"No one wants to spend more time stuck under fluorescent lights trying to tune out bickering bystanders when they should be enjoying the sound of crashing waves with margarita in hand. Unfortunately, delayed flights are a fact of travel life. And now that the Biden-era law requiring airlines to compensate passengers for extensive flight delays has been withdrawn, tardy departures can be even more frustrating."
"The rankings don't mean you should avoid flying Frontier and other airlines on the list entirely-in fact, the Denver-based carrier's record wasn't too far off from the industry standard, which puts the number of flights delayed by over 15 minutes at 22 percent. And when Flighty looked at how many flights are delayed by even one minute, it found that 41 percent touched down after scheduled arrival."
Delayed flights remain common in 2025, and compensation rules changed after the Biden-era law requiring airline payouts for extensive delays was withdrawn. Flighty analyzed more than 22 million flights completed between January and November 2025, including only carriers with at least 150,000 Flighty users. A flight was classified as delayed when it arrived 15 or more minutes late. Frontier Airlines had the highest rate with 28 percent of flights delayed; JetBlue and Southwest both logged 25 percent, American 24 percent, and Alaska 23 percent. Overall, 22 percent of flights were delayed by 15+ minutes; 41 percent arrived after scheduled time and average delays were 23 minutes globally. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport showed a 71.1 percent on-time departure rate.
