ABC's David Muir honored by Temple University
"I think it's so important that we all in this room remember to look behind us and make sure the door is open for the next person to come through,"
"There is no time more important to be a journalist in our country than right now,"
"Let the viewers at home listen to the facts, hear the truth and decide for themselves, and in that way you will be a success before you even know it."
"My career is just beginning, just like a lot of the students here, and to be honored by Temple - the place that gave me my start - means so much to me,"
Temple University presented the 2025 Lew Klein Excellence in Media Award to David Muir, with Debra OConnell delivering the presentation. Muir emphasized mentorship, urging attendees to leave doors open for those who follow and stressing the current importance of journalism. He encouraged journalists to present facts and let viewers decide, and he met with students on campus to urge staying true to principles, meeting viewers where they are, and seeking common ground. Beccah Hendrickson was recognized as a rising star by her alma mater. Bernie Prazenica received recognition for leadership and creating student opportunities through Klein College.
