"The Red Cross received on Sunday the remains of a hostage in Gaza that Hamas claims is the body of an Israeli soldier who was killed in 2014 and who has been held in Gaza for the past 11 years. His remains are the only ones currently held in Gaza since before the latest, two-year war between Israel and Hamas. Hamas said it found the body of the soldier, Hadar Goldin, in a tunnel in the enclave's southernmost city of Rafah on Saturday."
"Goldin's family spearheaded a very public campaign, along with the family of another soldier whose body was taken in 2014, to bring their sons home for burial. Israel recovered the remains of the other soldier earlier this year. Netanyahu said the country would continue trying to bring home the bodies of Israelis still being held across enemy lines, such as Eli Cohen, an Israeli spy hung in Damascus in 1965."
The Red Cross received remains in Gaza that Hamas says are those of Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin, who was killed on Aug. 1, 2014, and held in Gaza for 11 years. Hamas reported finding the body in a tunnel in Rafah. The remains are the only ones in Gaza dating from before the recent two-year war. The remains will be transferred to Israel's national forensic institute for identification. If confirmed as Goldin, four bodies of hostages would remain in Gaza. Israeli leaders described the return as significant for the U.S.-brokered truce and said recovery efforts will continue.
