""inexplicable.""
""I want you to do it this way," Beck told him."
""Sure enough, we go out to practice in the fall, and everything is identical.""
Carson Beck mentored 17-year-old true freshman Malachi Toney during spring and summer while Beck rehabbed an elbow injury. Toney ran routes like a veteran and made moves Beck called "inexplicable." Beck and Toney watched Georgia game tape together so Toney could learn option-route techniques used by Ladd McConkey, Brock Bowers and Cash Jones. Beck instructed Toney on specific route adjustments and the two practiced those concepts in fall camp. Toney executed a designed alignment and option-route conversion on fourth-and-2 against Florida State, turning a single juke into a touchdown.
