""I'm talking about the cost-of-living crisis that's crushing families,""
""Tell me the cost of those choices, and then we can have an informed conversation as to whether it was a good choice or a bad choice - or whether I'd make the same choice,""
Los Angeles recently raised trash collection fees to nearly $56 per month for single-family homes and duplexes, up from $36.32, and increased rates for multi-unit buildings. Sewer service fees are on track to double over a four-year period beginning since December 2022. Department of Water and Power rates have increased water by 52% and electricity by 19%. A mayoral candidate labeled these combined increases an affordability crisis for families and requested a City Council special session for explanations, while also declining to commit to rolling back the fee increases.
