Sami Hamdi, a British Muslim journalist and political commentator, was detained by immigration authorities at San Francisco International Airport after a U.S. speaking tour. CAIR called for his immediate release and said his detainment was suspected to be linked to his criticism of Israel's actions in Gaza and to a public post by far-right activist Laura Loomer. Hamdi had spoken at CAIR Sacramento and was scheduled to appear in Florida. CAIR attorneys are working to secure his release and publicly described the detention as an affront to free speech. DHS stated his visa was revoked and he is in ICE custody pending removal.
