More than 200 advocates represented over 77 million homeowners association, condominium, and co-op residents and met with members of Congress and their staff. Meetings addressed access to affordable insurance, disaster recovery, affordable housing, and preservation of community self-governance. Key legislative priorities included amendments under the ROAD to Housing Act to allow first-time buyers in associations to use HUD counseling, qualify for small-dollar mortgages, receive fair appraisals, and access grants or low-interest repair programs. The summit also supported FEMA Act changes to ensure federal disaster recovery funds cover privately owned roads and facilities in community associations.
