Rep. Pat Ryan, a combat veteran on the House Armed Services Committee, publicly criticized Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth during an interview with MeidasTouch Network. Ryan accused Hegseth of becoming increasingly unhinged and desperate, comparing his behavior unfavorably to Saturday Night Live depictions. Ryan attributed at least 13 American deaths to Hegseth's leadership failures and mistakes at the top level that cascaded downward. The congressman called for Hegseth's removal and established a website, firehegseth.com, to mobilize opposition. Ryan's criticism emerged amid ongoing U.S. and Israeli military strikes against Iran, which have also resulted in deaths of Iranian officials including former supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
