DNA on the rifle that killed Charlie Kirk matched Tyler Robinson. Robinson, 22, is charged with murder and faces potential death-penalty exposure if convicted. Robinson wrote in a text that he spent more than a week planning the attack and left a note saying he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk. Kirk was shot Sept. 10 while speaking with students at Utah Valley University, allegedly struck in the neck by a bolt-action rifle fired from a nearby rooftop. Authorities have not identified a definitive motive. Robinson appeared by video in court; his family declined to comment. Investigators say Robinson was involved romantically with a roommate who is reportedly transgender; that partner has cooperated with investigators.
