Divinity Announced With Insane Trailer, Will Be 'even larger than Baldur's Gate 3'
"But the surprise being ruined a day before the actual reveal doesn't take any impact away from how kickass, weird and messed-up the debut trailer is. We witness a man being gruesomely burned alive, public sex and more. And might I add that this trailer appeared at the same show which featured The Muppets? Bit of tonal whiplash there. Anyway, everything goes to shit when the burning man turns into some sort of evil demonic force."
"The name is actually important because prior to The Game Award's, Larian flat-out denied that they were working on a sequel to Divinity: Original Sin 2. The name change allowed them to get away with this white lie in a bid to keep the surprise intact. This will be the first game in the franchise's history to be called Divinity, thus marking a big turning point."
A mysterious desert statue unveiled at The Game Awards was revealed to be Divinity after a copyright entry leaked. The debut trailer contains graphic imagery including a man burned alive, public sex, and a transformation into an evil demonic force, creating a jarring contrast with the show's other moments. Geoff Keighley described the project as even larger than Baldur's Gate 3. Larian CEO Swen Vincke said this is the studio's first game titled Divinity and promised greater breadth, depth, and intimacy built from prior work. Larian previously denied a Direct sequel to Divinity: Original Sin 2, using the name change to preserve surprise.
