"The "unique culture" of Japan - from its cars to its music and fashion - was the impetus for the decision, according to Playground Games art director Don Arceta. Xbox has been struggling mightily of late, with hardware and game sales both in decline due to rising prices, tariffs and other issues. Even Game Pass, once renowned as one of the best deals in gaming, nearly doubled in price last year. With all that going on, the company would love Forza Horizon 6 to be a hit, but this leak won't help."
Forza Horizon 6 was scheduled for May 19, but leaked PC preload files appeared online and were cracked by pirates. Steam users reportedly obtained an unencrypted preload version, and links totaling about 150GB spread across sharing sites before being removed from Reddit. The cracked build can be played offline despite the game being highly online-centric. Premium Upgrade Bundle buyers paying $120 for early access starting May 15 may be disappointed because the leaked version arrived first. The game is set in Japan, featuring cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji, and other iconic imagery, with Japan’s culture influencing the setting. Xbox faces broader challenges with declining hardware and game sales and rising subscription prices, making a successful launch especially important.
