Pierre-Luc Dubois and Rasmus Sandin will not play for Capitals against Blue Jackets
"[Dubois] will not play tonight,"
"For him to have played two games, and I think I said this at the beginning of the year, we want to try and do a better job of utilizing our whole D corps,"
"I know that's a product of [Chisholm] having 100 NHL games under his belt. He deserves opportunities to play, and this is why we felt like we needed seven or eight defensemen for situations like this that you're inevitably going to go through during an 82-game schedule."
The Washington Capitals travel to Nationwide Arena to play the Columbus Blue Jackets without Pierre-Luc Dubois and Rasmus Sandin. Sandin was ruled out after practice with an upper-body injury. Dubois remains on injured reserve with a lower-body issue and will miss his fifth straight game, though he skated fully and could return Saturday against Ottawa. Ethen Frank will remain with the team and play right wing on the fourth line. Connor McMichael is expected to center Hendrix Lapierre and Tom Wilson. Declan Chisholm will play on the left side with Trevor van Riemsdyk and has averaged 14:42 of ice time in two games. Head coach Spencer Carbery said the club plans to better utilize the full defensive corps and carry seven or eight defensemen across the 82-game schedule.
