10 dead after small plane crashes in central Mexico while attempting emergency landing
"It spun around like when a fan breaks loose,"
"Then we heard the explosion, the truck even moved, and then we saw smoke coming out."
Ten people, including three minors, died when a small private jet crashed in San Mateo Atenco, three miles from Toluca airport. The plane had taken off from Acapulco and was registered with eight passengers and two crew. The aircraft apparently attempted an emergency landing on a soccer field but hit the metal roof of a nearby warehouse, which stored fuel and gas tanks, sparking a large fire. Authorities evacuated around 130 people from the industrial area. Firefighters and Red Cross personnel responded to the scene. The Attorney General’s Office launched an investigation into the crash.
