Israel strikes across south, eastern Lebanon in latest truce violation

Israel claims it is targeting Hezbollah operatives and arms sites, it says, to pressure the Lebanese armed group to disarm. Hezbollah has sharply refused to relinquish its arsenal as long as Israel bombards and occupies parts of Lebanon. Tensions escalated further weeks ago when Israel bombed Beirut's southern suburbs, killing Hezbollah's top military commander, Haytham Ali Tabatabai."

Lebanon and Israel dispatched civilian envoys to a ceasefire committee, but Hezbollah criticised the move and Lebanese officials expressed frustration.
