A Massachusetts State Police trooper arrested last week is facing charges related to a domestic assault on a child, local police said. State Trooper Michael Gagnon, of Plympton, was arrested Nov. 25 and was arraigned on charges of domestic assault and battery and aggravated assault on a child under 14 years of age, according to Plympton police. In a statement, a spokesperson for the State Police said Gagnon was relieved of duty and suspended without pay.

The Australian child was on holiday with her 34-year-old mother when she was targeted by Ioan Pintaru in London's West End at about 11:30 BST on 12 August last year. Pintaru, who denied attempted murder, allegedly approached the girl as she left the Lego store, placed her in a headlock and stabbed her eight times.
