A LendingTree study released in April found that it costs US parents an average of $303,418 to raise a child over 18 years. Parents spend an average of 21.9% of their income on child-rearing costs each year, a slight decrease from 22.6% in LendingTree's 2025 study. While the costs vary by state, one factor remains constant: the rising cost of childcare during the workday, which is often the largest expense related to having a child.
