Everton prepare to face Tottenham at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday undefeated at their new home following three wins and two draws this season. Their home form follows a summer of largely successful recruitment, although a question mark still remains at centre-forward, which has been a problem position since the departure of Romelu Lukaku in 2017. The Toffees have signed 17 strikers over the past 10 years at a combined cost of almost 160m... with decidedly mixed results.

Everton and referees haven't always seen eye-to-eye. Duncan Ferguson's goal in UEFA Champions League qualifying during the summer of 2004, which was, many believe erroneously, ruled out continues to turn even the most level-headed Blue a shade of red. It is perhaps surprising then to discover that one of the Toffees' most revered former players of recent times has been sharing a Christmas Dinner table with an official all these years.
There is going to be an openness to sign another forward if they still lack cutting edge, and that will form more clearly between now and January. They will wait to see the market opportunities that exist and aim to sign a player who can fit in. Let's use Gabriel Jesus as an example. He will likely be available and definitely has the elite quality that could fit the bill. But what is the financial commitment needed? There is talk of a 30m transfer valuation, but you also have to consider his personal package. The level of wages does matter.
Only 20 days after his sacking by Nottingham Forest, Nuno Espirito Santo was back in a Premier League dugout and reminding himself why he returned so quickly. A revitalised West Ham earned a point at Everton, and deserved more after a fine second-half performance. It is a green shoot of hope, which did not look forthcoming before the break when Everton held a lead thanks to Michael Keane's header. West Ham equalised through a superb Jarrod Bowen strike
We couldn't get the last goal and it was frustrating in the second half, he told TNT Sports. They were trying to slow the game down at times. I've never seen a player in my whole life get booked for taking a quick free-kick. I don't know where that rule has come in. Even the stoppage-time, three minutes and one minute I've never seen that in the Premier League in the last two or three years.
Burnley are seeking upwards of 50m in lost earnings after the club were relegated and spent 2022-23 in the second tier, where broadcast revenues are significantly lower than the top flight. West Ham United and Everton are prepared to provide Yves Bissouma with an exit route out of Tottenham in January. The 29-year-old midfielder is unwanted at the north London club, and he needs to move on. He has been linked with clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. However, the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winner has rejected the opportunity to join them, and he wants to remain in the Premier League. He has been frozen out at Tottenham since the arrival of Thomas Frank.
Michael Keane headed over the bar early on off a lovely set-piece cross from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, while former Villa star Jack Grealish, who created a game-leading five chances, saw a stinging volley saved by Martinez. James Garner set up Keane for another header, but the defender failed to find the target before Youri Tielemans nearly turned the ball into his own net off an Everton corner.
